If you like to experiment with t-shirt printing and design, then you no doubt have tonnes of old t-shirts cluttering your cupboards and home.
But before you go ahead and throw them out, why not think about these six ways you can reuse your old tees.
Make a shopping bag
Sick of bringing truck loads of plastic shopping bags home after visiting the supermarket?
Then turn your old t-shirts into shopping/tote bags. You don’t have to be a master of sewing either. As long as you can sew a straight line, then you can create one of these bags in ten minutes.
Cut off the arms and sew the bottom hem. And that’s it!
Give cushions a fresh look
If you have old t-shirts that have some sort of sentimental attachment, then a great way to make use of them is as cushion covers.
Fold and pin the sleeves round the cushion and hem them to the back of the shirt. After that, simply sew in place!
Make t-shirt yarn
If you’re a fan of knitting or crochet, you can make your own yarn from old t-shirts. It’s a whole lot cheaper than buying it from a wool shop.
It isn’t difficult to do either. Check out tutorials online.
A headband
If you don’t want to wear it on your torso, why not wear it on your head?
You can make a great headband with old t-shirts by twisting and looping a seven-inch band.
iPod holder
Get your hands on some Velcro tape, cut your t-shirt up and put some stitches in it to make a neat iPod holder and guarantee you won’t scratch the screen or drop it on your next run.
Make a scarf
Again, if the t-shirt isn’t getting worn, repurpose it into another style of clothing. There are loads of tutorials out there offering different ways to turn your old t-shirt into a stylish new scarf.
So those are our favourite ways to reuse your old t-shirt, but if you think we’ve missed anything off, let us know!
